Andrei Serban Directs Trojan Women after 45 Years
In 1974, La MaMa’s The Trojan Women debuted at La MaMa’s Annex theatre, now called the Ellen Stewart Theater. The production was the first play to be performed in the Annex.
This December of 2019, 45 years later, Andrei Serban will direct a newly reimagined version of La MaMa’s 1974 production of The Trojan Women in the same theatre where is all began with a multi-generational, international cast of actors and musicians from La MaMa's Great Jones Rep and Cambodian, Guatemalan, Serbian, Albanian and Roma artists from The Trojan Women Project. Andrei is pictured here in the Ellen Stewart Theatre with Resident Set Designer Jun Maeda.
The Trojan Women Project Festival is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
